Nathan Ghar-jun Adrian (born December 7, 1988 in Bremerton ) is an American freestyle swimmer . In 2012 he won an Olympic gold medal in the 100 m freestyle.

Career

At the short course world championships in Manchester in 2008 Adrian won the gold medal in the 100 m freestyle ahead of the Italian Filippo Magnini . He also won a gold medal with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, with which he was able to set a new world record. He also took the silver medal behind the Russians with the 4 × 100 m individual relay relay.

At the 2008 Olympics , he could not qualify for any individual decision for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . Over 100 m freestyle he was fourth and over 50 m freestyle only sixth. But with fourth place he qualified for the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay.

At the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro he won the bronze medal in the individual races over 50 m and 100 m freestyle and the gold medal with the two relays of 4 × 100 m freestyle and 4 × 100 medley.
