Clarke Scholes (born November 25, 1930 in Detroit , Michigan , † February 5, 2010 there ) was an American swimmer .

He was Olympic champion in the 100 m freestyle at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 . In 1980 he was inducted into the international swimming sports hall of fame .
