Inge Dekker (born August 18, 1985 in Assen ) is a Dutch swimmer . Their main routes are the short butterfly and freestyle routes .

Career

Together with Inge de Bruijn , Marleen Veldhuis and Chantal Groot , she won the bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . Dekker made her professional debut at the 2001 European Short Course Championships in Antwerp . Subsequently, she won many world and European championships with the Dutch freestyle and individual medley relay. Her breakthrough as a single swimmer came at the European Swimming Championships in Budapest in 2006 , when she became European Champion in the 200 m butterfly.

Dekker completed her most successful competitions to date at the European Short Course Championships in Istanbul in 2009 , when she was European champion in the 100 meter freestyle, 50 meter and 100 meter butterfly as well as the 4 × 50 meter freestyle relay and the 4 × 50 meter relay relay. With these five gold medals she was the most successful swimmer in these competitions.

Dekker fell ill with cancer in 2016.
