Kornelia Greßler (born November 9, 1970 in Arnstadt ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the GDR .

Career

She had the best year of her career in 1986 when she became world champion in the 100 m butterfly at the World Championships in Madrid and the silver medal in the 200 m butterfly. With the relay she won gold over 4 × 100 m individual medley (with Kathrin Zimmermann , Sylvia Gerasch and Kristin Otto ). Before that, she had already become European and GDR champions over this route in 1985 .

1986 Greßler received the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.
