Hinkelien Schreuder (born February 13, 1984 in Goor ) is a Dutch back swimmer who, however, achieved her greatest international success on the freestyle and butterfly print courses.

Career

Schreuder currently lives in Eindhoven and is studying physiotherapy there . She trains with Marcel Wouda at the swimming department of PSV Eindhoven .
At the European Junior Championships in Moscow in 1999 , Schreuder appeared on the international swimming stage for the first time. Two years later, at the 2001 European Short Course in Antwerp , she was part of the Dutch 4 × 50 meter freestyle relay, with which she won the silver medal. That year she was also voted Dutch Talent of the Year.
Furthermore, she missed the qualification for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . Over the years she emerged as a short-course specialist. In 2006, at the Short Course World Championships in Shanghai , she was a member of the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay, which won the gold medal with a new world record. In 2008, at the European Championships in Eindhoven , she won the silver medal in the 50 meter freestyle and the bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m individual relay. Only a few days after the European Championships, she was able to convince at the Short Course World Championships in Manchester in 2008 , when she fought exciting duels for the gold medal over the 50 meter freestyle and 50 meter butterfly with Marleen Veldhuis and Felicity Galvez . Although she was left behind and had to be content with the silver medal, she could be more than satisfied with each new personal best.

Schreuder swam her most successful competition to date in Istanbul at the European Short Course Championships in 2009 , when she was four times European champion in the 50 meter freestyle and 50 meter butterfly, as well as the 4 × 50 meter freestyle and 4 × 50 meter individual relay.
