David North (born 1950 ) is an American Trotskyist and editor-in-chief of the World Socialist Web Site .

North studied history at the University of Connecticut . From 1976 he was national secretary of the Workers League and later the Socialist Equality Party (SEP). Since August 2008 he has been its national chairman. He lives in Detroit.

When North sent nine questions to the Trotsky biographer Robert Service in 2014 because he had been invited by Jörg Baberowski to a doctoral seminar in Berlin , Baberowski rejected the questions at Service's request, which sparked the ongoing controversy surrounding Baberowski.
