Siobhan-Marie O'Connor (born November 29, 1995 in Bath , Somerset ) is a British swimmer .

Career

Siobhan-Marie O'Connor competed in the Junior European Championships for the first time in 2010 and reached two finals there. In 2011 she won three gold and one silver medal at her second European Junior Championship and qualified for the World Championships in Shanghai , where she reached the semi-finals over 200 m medley and was 13th.

In 2012 she qualified as the youngest British swimmer for the Olympic Games in London , where she was 21st in the 100 m breaststroke and eighth in the British 4 × 100 m individual relay relay. Her first international medal among the seniors followed at the European Short Course Championships in Chartres in 2012 with bronze over 100 m medley and in 2013 she reached the final over 200 m medley at the World Championships in Barcelona . At the end of 2013 she won silver over 200 and bronze over 100 m medley at the European short course championships . In addition, she received bronze in 2014 as a member of the relay over 4 × 50 m individual medley after the result of the originally victorious Russian relay had been canceled by Yulia Yefimova due to doping .

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , O'Connor won three individual and three relay medals, including gold in the 200m medley. At the short course World Cup in Doha , she won three silver medals: over 100 and 200 m individual medley as well as in a new European record time with the mixed relay over 4 × 50 m individual medley. At the 2015 World Championships , she won bronze in the 200 m medley and became world champion with the mixed 4 × 100 m medley in a world record time. With the women's relay over 4 × 200 m freestyle and 4 × 100 m medley, she was fifth and sixth. At the 2015 European Short Course Championships in Netanya , she won two silver medals in the 100 and 200 m medley and also reached the finals in the 50 and 100 m butterfly, where she finished 6th and 7th. In 2016, O'Connor was two-time European champion at the European Championships in London with the 4 × 100 m medley relay for women and in mixed. She also won silver in the 200 m individual medley behind Katinka Hosszú .

Siobhan-Marie O'Connor won seven gold, four silver and one bronze medal at British championships between 2013 and 2016. She is in a relationship with Chris Walker-Hebborn and trains in Bath with Dave McNulty and Graeme Antwhistle. 2012, chronic bowel disease was at its ulcerative colitis diagnosed.
