Valentina Evgenevna Artemjewa ( Russian Валентина Евгеньевна Артемьева ., Scientific transliteration Valentina Evgen'evna Artem'eva * 8. December 1986 in Novosibirsk ) is a Russian chest swimmer .

Artemjewa entered the international limelight for the first time in November 2008 at the Russian short course championships in Moscow , when she set a new European record in the 50 meters and 100 meters breaststroke .

At the following European Short Course Championships in Rijeka in 2008 , she was then able to secure a European title over these same distances. Over 50 meters chest, she improved her own European record there twice before setting this record again a week later in St. Petersburg .

She celebrated her first major international success on the long track when she achieved third place in the Mare Nostrum swimming series in June 2009.
