Jazmin Carlin (born September 17, 1990 in Swindon ) is a British freestyle swimmer . The Welsh woman won the 400 and 800m titles at the 2014 European Championships .

Carlin won the 400 m in Berlin in 4: 03.21 minutes ahead of Sharon van Rouwendaal (4: 03.76) and Spaniard Mireia Belmonte (4: 04.01). She swam over 800 m in 8: 15.54 minutes to success in front of Belmonte (8: 21.22) and the Hungarian Boglárka Kapás (8: 22.06).

At the 2009 World Championships in Rome , she and her teammates Joanne Jackson , Caitlin McClatchey and Rebecca Adlington won the bronze medal behind the People's Republic of China and the USA in 7: 45.51 in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay.

At the 2014 Short Course World Championships in Doha , Carlin won the silver medal over 800 m in 8: 08.16 minutes behind Mireia Belmonte (8: 03.41) and ahead of Sharon van Rouwendaal (8: 08.17).

At the 2015 World Championships in Kazan , Russia , she finished fourth in the 400 m freestyle in 4: 03.74 minutes. Over 800 m she took bronze in 8: 18.15 minutes behind the Oceania record swimming New Zealander Lauren Boyle and the US-American Katie Ledecky , who won with a new world record of 8: 07.39 minutes.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Carlin won a silver medal in the 400 m and 800 m freestyle. In both races she was only beaten by Katie Ledecky .
