Flavia Rigamonti (born July 1, 1981 in Sorengo ) is a Swiss swimmer .

Career

Her parade routes are the 800 m and 1500 m freestyle , on which she has already been successful several times at World and European Championships. The Swiss Sports Aid Foundation recognized her as the 1997 Young Athlete of the Year.

Rigamonti won a silver medal each at the 2001 Fukuoka World Swimming Championships , 2005 and Melbourne 2007 . Of the five Swiss medals won at the swimming world championships, three are her account.

In the final over 1500 m freestyle at the 2007 World Championships, she broke the European record and swam the distance in under 16 minutes for the first time. The record lasted until July 16, 2008, when Alessia Filippi improved it again by 2.54 seconds to 15: 52.84 minutes. On March 23, 2008 she won gold in the 1500 m freestyle at the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven .
