Boglárka Kapás (born April 22, 1993 in Debrecen ) is a Hungarian freestyle swimmer . She became world champion over 200 meters butterfly in 2019 .
successes
Boglárka Kapás was the youngest participant in the Hungarian team at the 2008 Summer Olympics . At the Olympics four years later in London , she could not excel after a long injury.
In the Summer Youth Olympic Games 2010 in Singapore Kapas made international attention for the first time. She won the 200 m dolphin in 2: 08.72 min and the 400 m freestyle in 4: 10.37 min. There was silver in the 200 m freestyle.
Towards the end of the same year there was silver at the European Short Course Championships in Eindhoven over 800 m in 8: 18.56 minutes behind Federica Pellegrini (8: 15.20).
Two years later at the European Championships in Debrecen, Kapás won gold over 800 m in 8: 26.49 minutes ahead of French Coralie Balmy (8: 27.79) and teammate Éva Risztov (8: 27.87).
With silver in 16: 03.03 min over the 1500 m, the 2014 European Championships in Berlin were also successful. The Spaniard Mireia Belmonte (15: 57.49, CR) was unbeatable here. The medal collection also won two bronze medals: over 800 m (8: 22.06) behind Jazmin Carlin (8: 15.54) and Belmonte (8: 21.22) and with the Hungarian 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay in the line-up of Zsuzsanna Jakabos , Evelyn Verrasztó , Kapás and Katinka Hosszú .
The 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russia, brought bronze over 1500 m in 15: 47.09 min behind the American Katie Ledecky (15: 25.48 min, world record) and the New Zealander Lauren Boyle (15: 40.14).
At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she won the bronze medal in the 800 meter freestyle.
