Zsuzsanna "Zsu" Jakabos (born April 3, 1989 in Pécs , Baranya County ) is a Hungarian swimmer . Her main disciplines are 200 and 400 m medley and 200 m butterfly , and she also competes internationally in 100 m medley (short course), 200 m back and in freestyle relays .

Career

Zsuzsanna Jakabos celebrated first successes at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2003 in Paris , where she won three gold medals. Already in 2004 she took part in the European Senior Championships in Madrid , where at the age of 15 she reached 6th place in the 200 m medley and 4th place in the 400 m medley. She qualified for the Olympic Games in Athens , where she was 15th over 400 m medley. At the 2005 World Swimming Championships , she reached the finals over 200 and 400 m medley and was eighth in each case. Her first international medal in the senior category followed with a bronze medal over 400 m at the European Short Course Championships 2005 in Trieste .

In 2006 Jakabos was fourth at the European Championships in 2006 in Budapest over 400 m medley and ninth at the European Short Course Championships in Helsinki . In 2008 she was able to repeat fourth place in the 400 m medley at the European Championships in Eindhoven , and she was sixth in the 200 m butterfly. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she finished 13th in the 400 m medley and ranked 6th with the Hungarian relay team in the 4 × 200 m freestyle. At the end of the year she came seventh at the European Short Course Championships in Rijeka over 200 m butterfly. At the swimming world championships in Rome in 2009 , Zsuzsanna Jakabos reached the semi-finals over 200 m butterfly and was seventh over 400 m medley. From 2010 the most successful years in the career of Zsuzsanna Jakabos followed: In 2010 she won silver over 200 m butterfly behind Katinka Hosszú and bronze over 400 m individual medley behind Hannah Miley and Hosszú at the European Championships in front of a home crowd in Budapest . At the European Short Course Championships in Eindhoven, she won her first international gold medals over these distances. Then she reached the short course world championships in Dubai with 8th place over 200 m back, her first international final participation over a back distance; She was fifth over 400 m individual medley. In 2011 she took 5th place in the 4 × 200 m freestyle and 6th place in the 200 m butterfly at the World Championships in Shanghai . At the European Short Course Championships in 2011 Jakabos won silver over 100 m individual medley behind Theresa Michalak and bronze over 400 m medley behind Mireia Belmonte and Hannah Miley. In 2012 she again achieved several medals in her home country at the European Championships in Debrecen , namely silver in the 200 m butterfly and 400 m medley (each behind Katinka Hosszú) and with the relay in the 4 × 200 m freestyle. She then took part in her third Olympic Games in London and reached the final of the 200 m butterfly with rank 7 . About 400 m layers and 4 x 200 m freestyle was Ninth; the Hungarian relay over 4 × 100 m individual medley was disqualified in the preliminary run. At the end of 2012 further medals followed at the European Short Course Championships in Chartres with silver over 100 m medley and bronze over 200 and 400 m medley. In 2013 Zsuzsanna Jakabos was able to book further finals at the World Championships in Barcelona and was fifth in the 200 m butterfly and sixth in the 200 and 400 m medley. At the 2014 European Swimming Championships in Berlin , she came fourth in the 200 m butterfly and won bronze with the relay in the 4 × 200 m freestyle. At the 2014 Short Course World Championships in Doha , she took part in the 50 m freestyle, where she was eliminated in the semifinals, and over 400 m individual medley, where she did not survive the preliminary run. With the relay over 4 × 200 m freestyle, she was fourth. At the 2015 World Championships in Kazan , she reached the semi-finals over 200 m medley and was eliminated from her remaining individual starts over 50 m freestyle and 400 m medley in the preliminary run. With the mixed relay over 4 × 100 m individual medley, she was eighth as the final swimmer. At the 2015 European Short Course Championships in Netanya , her best result was fifth in the 200 m butterfly. She also reached the final over 400 m individual medley, but was disqualified. In 2016 she won gold in the relay over 4 × 200 m freestyle and bronze over 400 m medley and 4 × 100 m medley at the European Swimming Championships in London. Over 200 m butterfly she reached fourth place.
