Anke Möhring (born August 28, 1969 in Magdeburg ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the GDR .

Her strengths lay on the long stretches and that's where she was able to achieve her successes. In 1985 she became European champion in the 800 m freestyle ahead of her club colleague Astrid Strauss . In 1989 she won the 400 meter freestyle as well as the 800 meter freestyle at the European Championships. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , she won the bronze medal over 400 meters, for which she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Doping in the GDR

Her award as Swimmer of the Year 1989 was struck from the lists of the best in 2013 because of the systematic and state-decreed doping in swimming in the GDR as well as in all other GDR swimmers who had been awarded the title since 1973.
