The 18th European Swimming Championships took place in Strasbourg from August 16 to August 23, 1987 and were organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN).

The 1987 European Swimming Championships included competitions in swimming , art and tower diving , synchronized swimming and the two water polo tournaments. The indoor swimming pool in the Schiltigheim district and the outdoor pools in the Wacken, Kibitzenau and Bischwiller districts were used for the competitions.
