Tamara Costache

Tamara Costache (born July 23, 1970 ) is a former Romanian swimmer .

The specialist in short freestyle distances was both first European and world champion in the 50 m freestyle. She won the European title at the 1986 World Championships in Madrid and the European title at the 1987 championships when she also won the silver medal in the 100 m freestyle behind Kristin Otto . With Micrea Hohoiu she had the same trainer as Michael Gross at times .

She ended her career in 1988.
