Amy Van Dyken (born February 15, 1973 in Greenwood Village ) is a former American swimmer .

With her six gold medals she is one of the most successful swimmers at the Olympic Games. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , she was Olympic champion in the 50 m freestyle and 100 m butterfly, as well as the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay and the 4 × 100 m individual relay relay . In the same year, she was honored with the Associated Press' Athlete of the Year award .

Four years later at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , she managed to win two gold medals again with the relays. In 2007 she was inducted into the international swimming sport hall of fame . Van Dyken's name was found on a list of doping customers as part of the BALCO affair .

Amy Van Dyken is married to NFL footballer Tom Rouen . Amy van Dyken suffered an 11th vertebral injury in June 2014 when she crashed on a quad bike.
