Pernille Blume (born May 14, 1994 in Bagsværd , Gladsaxe municipality ) is a Danish freestyle swimmer . Her special routes are 50, 100 and 200 m freestyle and she appears internationally, especially in relay competitions. In 2016 she became Olympic champion in the individual competition over 50 meters freestyle .

Career

Pernille Blume took part in the short course world championships for the first time in 2010 , where she was eliminated in the preliminaries in her three starts over 50, 100 and 200 m freestyle. A year later at the 2011 World Swimming Championships in Shanghai , she also did not make it past the prelims in the 100 and 200 m freestyle, but was also used in the relays: She was eighth in the 4 × 100 m freestyle and missed that in the 4 × 100 m individual medley Danish quartet in 9th place just about the final. At the end of 2011, Blume started at the European Short Course Championships in Szczecin , where she reached her first international finals, finishing 5th over 100 m and 8th place over 50 m freestyle. With the relay over 4 × 50 m freestyle she won silver and over 4 × 50 m individual medley gold.

2012 Pernille was flower part of the Danish team for the Olympic Games in London . In her individual starts over 50 m freestyle , 100 m freestyle and 200 m freestyle , she was eliminated in the preliminary run. She reached the finals with the two 4 × 100 m relays and, with new Danish national records, took 6th place over 4 × 100 m freestyle and 7th place over 4 × 100 m medley . At the European Short Course Championships in 2012 in Chartres , she reached the final over 100 m freestyle, finishing sixth; She also became European champion in 4 × 50 m freestyle and 4 × 50 m medley. She won two further medals at the short course world championships in Istanbul with gold in the European record in 4 × 100 m medley and bronze in 4 × 100 m freestyle.

At the 2013 World Swimming Championships in Barcelona , Blume was eliminated in the 50 and 100 m freestyle in the semi-finals. At the end of the year, she achieved ninth place in the European Short Course Championships in front of her home crowd in Herning in the 50 and 100 m freestyle as well as gold in a world record time in 4 × 50 m freestyle and another gold in 4 × 50 m individual medley after the originally victorious team from Russia in 2014 Victory was revoked because of doping by Julija Eefimova . At the 2015 World Championships , Pernille Blume did not get beyond the semi-finals in the 50 and 100 m freestyle. She finished fifth in the 4 × 100 m relay. In 2016 she also reached fifth place with the relay over 4 × 100 m freestyle at the European Championships in London; in the individual over this distance she did not get beyond the prerun. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Blume was Olympic champion in the 50 m freestyle in 24.07 s and won a bronze medal in the individual relay relay. Then she was voted Sportswoman of the Year in Denmark .
