Birkerød is a town on the Danish island of Zealand with a total of 20,823 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The town belongs to the Rudersdal municipality in the Hovedstaden region , but also extends to a small extent over the neighboring municipalities of Allerød Kommune and Furesø Kommune . There are currently 41 residents in Allerød Municipality and four in Furesø Municipality.
The subsidiary Kuwait Petroleum Corporation , Kuwait Petroleum Denmark AS, Q8 for short, has its headquarters in Birkerød, while the central office is in the Ørestaden district of Copenhagen .
Birkerød is twinned with the Faroese Tórshavn .
