Eugen Guszalewicz , also Eugen Guszalewics , ( 1867 in Lemberg - 29 May 1907 in Cologne ) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Guszalewicz began his stage career in Pressburg in 1891 , continued it in Aachen (1892–1893) and Brno (1894–1895) and was at the Deutsches Theater in Prague from 1896 to 1902.

He was a lyrical tenor with very special vocal means and his handsome detailed technique and his rare mezza voce was praised by the specialist critics. His singing made him many friends and he complemented the Prague opera ensemble in a vocal way. Among his achievements, which have been described as excellent, are "Assad", "Raoul", "Troubadour", "Hernani", "Lyonel" etc.

In 1902 he resigned from this engagement after successful work, without proving to be committed, but only worked as a guest. The singer set up his residence in Vienna . He died in Cologne in 1907.

In 1897 he married his student and colleague Alice Guszalewicz , their younger daughter Genia Guszalewicz (1902–1971) also became a well-known opera singer. The eldest daughter Paulina Olga Guszalewicz was a well-known press illustrator in the Bonn republic after the Second World War .

Eugen Guszalewicz was buried in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 52).
