The 2016 European Open Water Championships took place from July 10th to 14th, 2016 in Hoorn ( Netherlands ) and were organized by the European Swimming Federation LEN . Seven competitions were held: individual competitions for women and men over the distances of 5, 10 and 25 kilometers and a 5-kilometer team competition.

Prize money

Prize money was awarded by the European Swimming Federation for the medal placements:
