Matteo Furlan (born May 29, 1989 in San Vito al Tagliamento ) is an Italian freestyle swimmer specializing in the open water disciplines .

successes

He won his first medal at the Italian Championships in 2011 with third place in the 1500 m freestyle in 14: 45.97 minutes. In the same year he finished 7th at the European Short Course Championships in Stettin over the same route.

At the Mediterranean Games 2013 in Mersin he won a bronze medal over 1500 m and in the same year at the Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan the gold medal over 10 km; two years later at the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju , South Korea , it was silver on the same track.

On the Kasanka in Kazan he was once again granted a great success in 2015: over 5 km he finished third in the swimming world championships in 55: 20.0 minutes behind the South African Chad Ho (55: 17.6) and the winner simultaneous German Rob Muffels . Over 25 km he also won the bronze medal in 4: 54: 38.0 hours behind his compatriot Simone Ruffini and the American Alex Meyer .
