The 2015 Summer Universiade , officially XXVIII. Summer Universiade , took place from July 3rd to 14th in the South Korean city ​​of Gwangju . 12,885 students from 143 countries competed for precious metals in 21 sports.

canditature

The cities of Edmonton , Taipei and Gwangju applied to host the Summer Universiade 2015. Hamburg also submitted an application, but later withdrew it. On May 23, 2009, the FISU announced Gwangju as the venue at its meeting in Brussels. Gwangju had already applied to host the 2013 Summer Universiade .

Competition venues

The Universiade is held in 37 sports facilities in Gwangju and the surrounding area. Most of the sports facilities were renovated for the Universiade, two stadiums were newly built.
