The 28th Winter Universiade took place from January 29th to February 8th 2017 in Almaty , Kazakhstan .

Sports facilities

The competitions took place at eight sports facilities:

• Halyk Arena : Ice Hockey (Men)
• Almaty Arena : opening ceremony, closing ceremony, curling, figure skating
• "Medeu" High-mountain Ice Rink : speed skating
• Baluan Sholak Sports Palace : ice hockey (women), short track
• Shymbulak Ski Resort : Freestyle skiing (moguls / moguls, ski cross), alpine skiing, snowboarding (parallel giant slalom, parallel slalom, cross, slopestyle)
• Sunkar International Ski Jumping Complex : Nordic combined (ski jumping), ski jumping
• Alatau Cross Country Skiing and Biathlon Stadium : biathlon, Nordic combined (cross-country skiing), cross-country skiing
• "Tabagan" Ski Resort : Freestyle skiing (aerials / jumping), snowboarding (big air)
