2014 European Water Polo Championship

The 2014 European Water Polo Championships were held from July 14th to July 27th in Budapest ( Hungary ). As in 1958 and 2001, the venue was the Alfréd-Hajós swimming complex on Margaret Island .

Twelve teams played for the men and eight for the women for the European title.

Men's tournament

mode

The 12 participating nations were divided into two groups of 6 teams each. The top three from both groups qualified for the final round for places 1–6, which was played in the knockout system . The first placed from the group stage qualified directly for the semi-finals. Accordingly, the last three in each group played for places 7-12.
