Ligue Européenne de Natation
The Ligue Européenne de Natation ( LEN ) is the European umbrella organization for water sports based in Luxembourg . When it was founded in Bologna in 1927 , it comprised just 7 national associations; today, 51 swimming associations from all over Europe belong to it , including the German Swimming Association (DSV). The incumbent president since 2012 is the Italian Paolo Barelli , who is also Honorary Secretary of FINA and President of the Italian Swimming Federation Federazione Italiana Nuoto (FIN) .
The seat of the European swimming federation was moved from Rome to Luxembourg in 2010 .
Competitions
The LEN organizes the following competitions in Europe:
- European Swimming Championships (every two years)
- European short course championships (every two years)
- European Water Polo Championships (every two years)
- European Masters Championships (every two years)
- European Youth Swimming Championships (every year)
- European Open Water Championships (every two years)
Similarly, the LEN events such as championships in be part of diving and water diving or competitions held for young people.
