Stéphan Caron , occasionally Stéphane Caron (born July 1, 1966 in Rouen , Seine-Maritime department ) is a former French swimmer .

Career

Stéphan Caron celebrated his greatest sporting success in 1985 when he became European champion over 100 m freestyle in Sofia . The following year he won silver at the World Championships in Madrid over the same distance, as well as at the European Championships in 1987 in Strasbourg . In 1989 he stayed in Bonn without an individual medal, but won silver with the French 4 × 100 m freestyle and individual medal relay.

In the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and 1992 in Barcelona won Caron on his parade route two bronze medals, with the 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay missed it, however, in fourth place just under a medal rank. In 1984 he took part in the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and finished 6th in the 100 m freestyle final.

In his career, Stéphan Caron won 33 national championships and ended his sporting career in 1992 after Barcelona.
