Alex Jany (born January 5, 1929 in Toulouse , † July 18, 2001 in Marseille ) was a French swimmer and water polo player .

At the European Championships in 1947 and 1950 , he was European champion over 100 m and over 400 m freestyle . At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 and in Helsinki in 1952 , he won bronze medals with the French 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. He also took part in the swimming competitions in Melbourne in 1956 , but remained without a medal. In 1960 he was a member of the French water polo team, which finished 9th in Rome . In 1977 he was inducted into the international swimming sports hall of fame .
