Uwe Daßler (born February 11, 1967 in Ebersbach / Sa. ) Is a former German swimmer who competed for the GDR .

Career

In 1985 and 1987 he was European champion over 400 m freestyle, in 1985 also European champion over 1500 m. He had his greatest sporting success in 1988 when he became Olympic champion in the 400 m freestyle in a world record time at the Olympic Games in Seoul . He won the bronze medal in the 1500 m freestyle. He was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold for his sporting success at the Olympic Games .

Uwe Daßler swam for the ASK Vorwärts Potsdam ; On his special course, the 400 meter freestyle, he was GDR champion five times in a row from 1985 to 1989.

After his career as an athlete, he became a financial advisor.
