George DiCarlo

George DiCarlo (born July 13, 1963 in Saint Petersburg , Florida ) is a retired American swimmer .

He won gold in the 400m and silver in the 1,500m freestyle at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . With his Olympic victory he benefited from the fact that the German Thomas Fahrner did not qualify for the finals. Fahrner then swam faster in the B final than DiCarlo in his Olympic victory.
