Johan Bontekoe
Johan Klaas Bontekoe (born July 1, 1944 in Assen , † March 25, 2006 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch swimmer.
At the European Championships in 1962 in Leipzig he was European champion over 400 m freestyle in 4: 25.6 minutes and was thus the first Dutch European champion since 1938. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he competed in three disciplines, but was eliminated in the preliminary stages . In total, Bontekoe won 14 Dutch championship titles and set 28 national records. After his career, he worked in various functions for the Dutch Swimming Association.
