Jacqueline Alex (born December 1, 1965 in Zwickau ) is a former swimmer who competed for the GDR .

Career

Swimming career

In her adopted home in Thuringia, she trained at the Turbine Erfurt sports club from 1972 to 1985 . She achieved a number of national and international successes. I.a. she became European youth champion in the 200 meter medley in 1980 in Skövde (Sweden). Over 200 meters butterfly, she won third place at the GDR championships in 1984 and the GDR championship title a year later. The European title at the European Swimming Championships in 1985 in Sofia over 200 meters butterfly was her greatest success in international championships. In 1986 she was awarded the Silver Patriotic Order of Merit for this success .

Private career

Jacqueline Alex, married Kiewel, is the mother of three daughters. She lives with her family in Berlin , is a physiotherapist by profession and the owner of two physiotherapy practices .
