Fritz Schneider (politician, 1916)
Fritz Schneider (born October 8, 1916 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , † November 4, 2006 in Kaiserslautern ) was a German lawyer and politician ( FDP , CDU ).
Life and work
Schneider was born the son of a pastor. After graduating from high school in Pirmasens , he began studying law in Heidelberg , Geneva and Munich , which he completed in 1944 with the second state examination in law. In 1938 he became a member of the Vineta fraternity in Heidelberg . He was from 1945 to 1958 as a prosecutor in Kaiserslautern and 1947 to 1949 as Attorney General in Neustadt on the Wine Route operates.
Political party
Schneider joined the FDP in 1952 and was a member of the state board of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate from 1955 to 1974 . In 1974 he left the party and finally became a member of the CDU in 1981 .
MP
From 1956 to 1960, Schneider was a councilor for the city of Kaiserslautern. He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from 1958 to 1975 , where he was chairman of the FDP parliamentary group from 1959 to 1963. After leaving the party, he was a non-attached MP.
Public offices
On May 18, 1963, Schneider was appointed Minister of Justice to succeed Wilhelm Westenberger in the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate led by Prime Minister Peter Altmeier and was also a member of the follow-up government led by Prime Minister Helmut Kohl . In 1964 he was chairman of the Conference of Justice Ministers of the Länder. After the formation of a CDU sole government, he left the ministerial office on May 18, 1971 and was replaced in this function by Otto Theisen .
From 1954 to 1979 he was a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate and served as its president from 1961 to 1978. In addition, from 1966 to 1976 he was a member of the Broadcasting Council of Südwestfunk (SWF).
