Werner Kuhn (born May 31, 1941 in Völklingen ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 1996 to 2011 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Kuhn studied German and geography at Saarbrücken University . From 1971 to 1996 he was a high school teacher at the Burggymnasium in Kaiserslautern . Kuhn is married and has three children.

In 1973 Kuhn joined the FDP. From 1986 to 2002 he was chairman of the FDP district association in Kaiserslautern. In April 2008 he took over this function again. In 1989 he was elected to the city ​​council of Kaiserslautern, of which he was a member until 1999. In 1996 he became a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament. There he was chairman of the FDP parliamentary group from 1998 to 2006. He chaired the constituent session of the state parliament after the 2006 election as old-age president. Since 2006 he has been deputy chairman of the Committee for Science, Further Education, Research and Culture. He did not run for the 2011 state election . With the resignation of a member of the FDP city council faction, he has been a city council member in Kaiserslautern again since mid-August 2011.
