Thomas Roth (born November 2, 1960 in Montabaur ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since May 2016 .

Life and education

After graduating from the Home Schooling Lender in Sasbach studied Roth in Saarbrücken two semesters Business Administration and then moved to the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz to law study.

From 1989 to 1996 Roth worked for the advertising industry, then was the deputy branch manager of a freight forwarding company in Cologne and from 2006 until his election to the state parliament as an independent management consultant, mainly advising medium-sized companies.

In March 2016, Tom Roth published his first novel Relocation Endangered , which is largely based on his own youth experiences as a boarding school student at the Lender home school.

Roth is married.

politics

Roth joined the FDP in December 2006 and in the same month co-founded the FDP-Verbandsgemeindeverband Wirges , of which he was also the first chairman. In 2007 he became district manager of the FDP Westerwald . In 2014 he took over its chairmanship. From 2009 to 2019 Thomas Roth was a district member of his home district.

On March 13, 2016, he was elected to the 17th state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate with six other free democrats . On May 23, 2016, he was elected parliamentary group leader of the FDP parliamentary group. In October 2017, he resigned from his position as parliamentary group leader as a result of fierce criticism from within the party.

He is a member of the Legal Affairs Committee, the Committee on Europe and One World, the Committee on Family, Youth, Integration and Consumer Protection and, since March 2020, also the Committee on Science, Further Education and Culture.

More functions

Thomas Roth was a member of the state board of the Association of Liberal Local Politicians in Rhineland-Palatinate until 2019. Since 2009 he has also been a delegate at all federal party conventions of the Free Democrats.
