Fritz Glahn

Fritz Glahn (born March 5, 1899 in Dellfeld , † September 29, 1977 in Zweibrücken ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life

In the First World War , Glahn, who was a Protestant , was a participant in the war. He then studied agriculture and economics in Munich . There he became a member of the Stauffia-Munich (DB) fraternity in 1919 . From 1924 to 1945 he worked in various agricultural organizations in the press and administration. Until 1933 he was managing director and agricultural journalist in the Reichslandbund and in the Rhine-Hessian peasantry. From 1933 Glahn held the post of press officer in the Reich Ministry of Food and then became department head in the Reich Nutrition Stand . His areas of expertise were economic and market policy, market advertising, foreign trade and exhibitions.

Glahn was active in the Landbund and the German People's Party from 1925 to 1933 . After the National Socialists came to power , he joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1933 ( membership number 3.443.202).

After the Second World War, Glahn first managed his parents' farm and joined the FDP . In 1951 he became chairman of the FDP district association in Zweibrücken-Land and a year later he became district chairman of the FDP West Palatinate and a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state board . From 1959 to 1966 he belonged to the FDP federal executive committee , at times to the federal main committee and the agricultural committee of the federal party. From 1958 to 1966 he was chairman of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate . After secret electoral agreements with the NPD became known , he had to resign.

Since 1952 Glahn was a member of the district assembly of the Palatinate. From 1955 to 1957 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and there at the same time chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. Glahn was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to November 2, 1959.

From May 19, 1959 to April 26, 1966, Glahn served as Minister for Finance and Reconstruction in the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate led by Prime Minister Peter Altmeier .

In his hometown Dellfeld a street is named after Glahn.
