Josef Dohr

Josef Dohr (born July 20, 1904 in Düsseldorf , † July 3, 1972 in Trier ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life

Dohr attended elementary school and in 1923 passed the Abitur at the humanistic Hohenzollern grammar school in Düsseldorf. He then studied medicine in Freiburg, Kiel and Bonn and passed his state examination in 1928 and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. Until 1933 he trained as a specialist in Bonn, Krefeld and Cologne, and in 1933 he established himself as a specialist in ear, nose and throat diseases in Trier. He was the head physician in this department in the Marien Hospital in Trier. In 1947 he became a partner in Strom-Verlag GmbH, Bad Kreuznach. After the end of the war, leading activities followed in professional medical organizations.

In 1928 he became a member of the DDP , later the state party. In 1939 he joined the NSDAP . In 1946 he and Wilhelm Rautenstrauch participated in the founding of the Liberal Party of Rhineland-Palatinate , which later became the FDP regional association, and was its regional chairman in Rhineland-Palatinate from 1947 to 1951 . From November 1, 1956, when he replaced Erich Wilhelm Sartor , until 1959 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . The state parliament elected him a member of the first and second federal assemblies , which elected Theodor Heuss as federal president in 1949 and 1954 .

Dohr received the title of medical councilor and the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (1954).

Dohr's brother Heinz was a member of the FDP state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia in the 1950s .
