Alfred Steger

Alfred Steger (born September 26, 1898 in Ronsdorf , † July 6, 1967 in Müllheim ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life

After completing secondary school and attending commercial school, Steger completed a commercial apprenticeship and then worked as an employee in the luxury food industry. In the meantime he had taken part in the First World War as a soldier . He became an authorized signatory in 1925, a representative in 1928, then a general agent and finally in 1932 director of the German Wine Sales Cooperative. From 1942 he worked as an independent wine merchant in Oppenheim .

In 1946 Steger was a member of the district council and district committee Mainz-Land . In the same year he participated in the establishment of the Social People's Federation (SV) in Hesse-Palatinate. At the beginning of 1947 the SV became part of the Democratic Party (DP) in Rhineland-Palatinate , which was merged into the state association of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate in 1948 . From September 1947 to April 1948 he was one of the five chairmen of the DP / FDP in Rhineland-Palatinate who were united in a directorate. He also held the office of chairman of the FDP district association Rheinhessen .

Steger was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1946 to 1947 . In the state elections in May 1947 , he was elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament, to which he belonged until 1955.

In addition to his political functions, he has been chairman of the Association for Loyal Restitution Rhineland-Palatinate since 1950, co-founder and head of State Office VII (Rhineland-Palatinate) of the Federal Air Protection Association based in Mainz since 1951, and since 1954 deputy chairman of the Federal Association of Restitution Victims based in Bonn .

Alfred Steger was married to Friederike Michel and had a son, the later diplomat Hans Alfred Steger .
