Hermann Eicher

Hermann Eicher (born April 17, 1911 in Kaiserslautern , † July 30, 1984 in Mainz ) was a German lawyer and politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After graduating from the Humanistic Gymnasium in Kaiserslautern, Eicher studied law in Munich , where he became a member of the Stauffia fraternity, Marburg and Nuremberg , which he completed in 1933 with the first state examination and in 1937 with the second state examination. He received his doctorate in 1938 , Dr. jur. , then worked as a public prosecutor in Frankenthal and in 1939 became a district court judge in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was most recently taken prisoner of war , from which he was released in 1946.

Eicher became district judge in 1948 in Kaiserslautern and in 1950 senior judge at the Palatinate Higher Regional Court in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . In 1951 he became a consultant in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Justice and in 1955 he was promoted to Ministerial Director. He worked as a lawyer in the 1970s.

Political party

Eicher joined the FDP in 1957 and was state chairman of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate from 1966 to 1972 . During this time he was also a member of the FDP federal executive committee .

MP

Eicher was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag from May 18 to 23, 1967 and from 1971 to 1982 , and was vice-president of the Landtag from 1973 to 1982.

Public offices

Eicher served from 1962 to 1966 as State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics and Transport of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate . On April 26, 1966, he was appointed as the successor to Fritz Glahn as Minister of Finance and Reconstruction in the state government led by Prime Minister Peter Altmeier and was also a member of the follow-up government led by Prime Minister Helmut Kohl . After the formation of a CDU sole government, he left the ministerial office on May 18, 1971 and was replaced in this function by Johann Wilhelm Gaddum .
