Emil Wolfgang Keller

Emil Wolfgang Keller (born March 6, 1932 in Pirmasens ; † November 16, 2017 ) was a German economist , entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Keller was born the son of a district court director. After graduating from high school in 1951 at the humanistic high school in Pirmasens, he first worked in shoe factories and tanneries. In 1953 he began studying economics at the universities of Freiburg and Munich , which he completed in 1956 with an examination for a degree in economics. He then worked as the owner of a leather wholesaler in Pirmasens until 1986.

Keller was a member of the CDU. From 1969 to 1995 he was district chairman of the CDU Pirmasens.

Public offices

Keller was elected to the council of the city of Pirmasens in 1960. From 1975 to 1996 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament , there from 1981 initially deputy chairman and 1987/88 chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

On December 8, 1988, he was appointed finance minister in the government of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate led by Prime Minister Carl-Ludwig Wagner . After the CDU was defeated in the state elections in 1991, he left the state government on May 21, 1991 and was replaced in his office by Edgar Meister .
