Willi Hört
Willi Hört (born January 13, 1930 in Koblenz ; † August 15, 1996 there ) was a German engineer and politician ( CDU ). From 1972 to 1994 he was Lord Mayor of Koblenz.
Life and work
Hört was born the son of a bandage master. After attending school, Hört first trained as a bricklayer and later trained as a civil engineer. He entered the public service in February 1952, first worked at the special building department in Koblenz and then moved to the road administration of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . Later he was chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate Tourism and Spas Association and Vice-President of the German Tourism Association. His son Michael Hört , born in 1958, was a member of the CDU city council group in Koblenz and a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

From 1964 to 1972, he was a councilor for the city of Koblenz and at the same time chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from 1965 to 1975. From 1971 to December 31, 1972 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.
Acting as the Lord Mayor of Koblenz
On October 14, 1972, Hörter was elected Lord Mayor of the city of Koblenz. After his re-election in 1984, he remained in office until October 12, 1994. With 22 years in office, he was one of the longest serving Lord Mayors in Germany. His work was shaped by the completion of the reconstruction of the city after the heavy air raids on Koblenz in the Second World War and the further urban development.
These include the opening of the Moselle bank promenade (Peter-Altmeier-Ufer) after the port facilities were abandoned (1973), the construction of a sewage treatment plant in Wallersheim (1973), the new construction of the fire station in Rauental (1973), the new construction of the Kemperhof (1973) in Moselweiß , the extension of the Europabrücke (1974), the construction of the Beatusbad (1974) in the gold mine, the completion of the construction of the south bridge (1975), the restoration of the Balduinbrücke (1975), the development of the administrative center (1977), the reconstruction of the house Metternich , Münzplatz and the Dreikönigenhaus in the old town (1977), the new building of the police headquarters (1978), the new building of the main office of the Sparkasse Koblenz (1978), the building of Hohenfelderstrasse (1979), the new building of the Mayen-Koblenz district administration (1981) ), the opening of the Defense Technical Study Collection in Koblenz (1982), the construction of the Löhr Center (1984), the construction of the Federal Archives on the Karthauser (1986), the inauguration of the Kurt Schumacher Bridge (1990) and the construction of the Sport Halle Oberwerth (1992).
During his tenure, the city partnerships with Norwich (1978), Maastricht (1981), Novara (1991) and Austin (1992) as well as the 2000 anniversary of the city of Koblenz (1992) fell.

- On September 20, 2013, the square in front of the town hall , on which the Schängelbrunnen is located, was named Willi-Hört-Platz.
