Oskar Stübinger (born December 25, 1910 in Edenkoben ; † July 27, 1988 in Müllheim ) was a German farmer , estate administrator and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Stübinger was born the son of a wine merchant and winemaker. After attending elementary school and graduating from high school in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse , he began studying agriculture and forestry at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , where he was a member of the Corps Markomannia. After completing his studies with the exam to become a qualified farmer (1932), he worked as a scientific assistant at the teaching and research institute for fruit and viticulture in Neustadt. He had worked on his parents' farm since 1935 and had managed the Dreihof estate near Offenbach an der Queich since 1939 . In 1940/41 and 1944/45 he took part in World War II as a soldier .

After the end of the war, Stübinger worked again as an estate manager. He belonged to numerous agricultural associations, was among other things president of the Raiffeisen associations Rheinpfalz and Rhein-Main, before he was elected president of the Raiffeisenverband Rheinland-Pfalz in 1968. In addition, in 1953/54 he held the post of Vice President of the International Wine Office .

Political party

Stübinger joined the CDU and was a member of the state board of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate .

MP

Stübinger was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946/47 and belonged to the Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament from 1947 until his resignation on April 30, 1970 .

Public offices

After the French military government appointed Wilhelm Boden as Prime Minister of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, Stübinger was appointed to the state government as Minister for Agriculture and Food on December 3, 1946. From June 13th to July 9th, 1947, he also took over provisional ministerial office for economy and finance. He was also a member of the subsequent government led by Prime Minister Peter Altmeier and had been Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forests since July 9, 1947. He also headed the Finance and Reconstruction Department from October 20 to December 14, 1949. He was then appointed Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Forests . Since May 19, 1959, he was also Deputy Prime Minister. On April 30, 1968, he left the state government and was replaced in his functions by Otto Meyer .
