Jiao Liuyang ( abbreviation :焦刘洋; traditional characters :焦劉洋; pinyin : Jiao Liuyang * 6. August 1991 in Harbin , Heilongjiang ) is a Chinese swimmer .

In 2007 she took part in the World Championships in Melbourne and took fourth place in the 200 m butterfly (2: 07.22 min).

At the 2008 Summer Olympics she came second in the 200 m butterfly in 2: 04.72 minutes behind her compatriot Liu Zige , who won in 2: 04.18 minutes. Both beat the world record set by the Australian Jessicah Schipper (2: 05.40 min).

At the Olympic Games in 2012 she won the gold medal in the 200 m butterfly with a new Olympic record in 2: 04.06 min.

On August 14, 2012, she was named the youngest representative at the 18th National People's Congress .
