Karen Moe
Karen Patricia Moe-Thornton (born January 22, 1952 in Del Monte, Philippines ) is a former American swimmer .
She achieved her greatest sporting success at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich when she became Olympic champion in the 200 m butterfly . Before that she had set a new world record over this route four times . She was able to qualify for the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , but only took fourth place in the final over 200 m butterfly. After that, she ended her career and became a successful swimming coach.
In 1992 she was inducted into the international swimming sport hall of fame .
