Swiss sports aid
The Swiss Sports Aid Foundation is a non-subsidized, non-profit, non-profit organization. Together with Swiss Olympic and the Federal Office of Sport , it is one of the most important sports organizations in the country.
Since it was founded in 1970, around 17,500 athletes have received more than CHF 125 million in support. The funds are generated through fundraising , among others by foundations and partner companies as well as by the Sport-Toto-Gesellschaft and the Swiss lottery companies Swisslos and Loterie Romande .
From 2004 to 2011 the foundation focused on the targeted promotion of performance-oriented young talent. In 2012 she took over the entire individual promotion in Swiss sport, from youngsters to the elite. Every year, the foundation supports more than 1,000 performance-oriented athletes from around 80 sports with over 9 million francs in the form of grants, sponsorships and awards. As many of them as possible should achieve top international positions.
Among others, Fabian Cancellara (bike; Olympic champion 2008), Nicola Spirig (triathlon; Olympic champion 2012 and Olympic champion 2016), Giulia Steingruber (artistic gymnastics; Olympic gold medalist 2016, World Cup third 2017, multiple European champion) and Nino Schurter (mountain bike; Olympic champion 2016 , Olympic runner-up in 2012 and Olympic runner-up in 2008) from funding.
Each year the foundation awards young Swiss athletes with the Young Talent Award. In addition, the Super10Kampf sports aid takes place at the end of October / beginning of November . Other events organized by Sporthilfe include the Soirée Romande , at which the foundation honors the most promising young athletes in western Switzerland .
11 people are employed at the office in the House of Sports in Ittigen near Bern. From an organizational point of view, Sporthilfe works closely with its founder, Swiss Olympic .
