The current and second generation of the compact SUV BMW X1 from BMW has the internal model number F48 . It was announced in June 2015 as the successor to the E84 series and is based on the BMW UKL2 platform.

Model history

The official presentation took place at the International Motor Show 2015 from September 17 to 27, 2015 in Frankfurt am Main . The F48 is produced in the BMW plant in Regensburg and in the Nedcar plant in Born .

For the Chinese market, BMW Brilliance Automotive in Shenyang is producing an extended version of the X1 with the development designation F49 . On this basis, the hybrid version “X1 xDrive25Le iPerformance”, which was only available in China and was presented at the Chengdu Motor Show 2016, was released.

The 60H from the Chinese brand Zinoro , which is based on the long version of the X1, is also intended exclusively for the Chinese market . The plug-in hybrid vehicle went on sale there on March 23, 2017.

A revised version of the X1 was presented in mid-2019. Since March 2020, the series has also been available outside of China with a plug-in hybrid drive.

Body and technology

The main difference to the predecessor results from the platform used with transverse engines and front-wheel drive . Thus, the sDrive models without all-wheel drive / xDrive no longer have traditional rear-wheel drive .

The c w value is between 0.28 and 0.29. The design comes from the Australian Calvin Luk.

The chassis has a single-joint strut axle in aluminum / steel lightweight construction at the front and a multi-link axle in lightweight steel construction at the rear . All wheels are braked with ventilated disc brakes.

Furnishing

The equipment list includes:

  • Panorama glass roof (special equipment)
  • Bi-LED double headlights with daytime running lights and cornering lights are optionally available.
  • Performance Control (torque distribution on the rear wheels)
  • Drive Assistant (driver assistance systems, special equipment)
  • Reversing camera (special equipment)
  • Head-up display (special equipment)
  • Efficient Dynamics measures (start-stop function, brake energy recovery and shift point display)

safety

In addition to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) including Brake Assist and Cornering Brake Control (CBC), there are belt tensioners and belt force limiters as well as an electronic stability program with traction control (called Dynamic Stability Control, DSC or Dynamic Traction Control, DTC). There are also six airbags (driver / front passenger, side airbags and full-length head airbags). Some engine variants are available with xDrive all-wheel drive .

Child seats can only be securely attached to the back seat on the outside seats. Isofix brackets are also available there. The passenger airbag deactivation is a standard feature, so a child seat can be attached to the passenger seat.

Motors (F48)

The models are differentiated according to displacement and engine type . The number (18, 20, 25) in this model does not indicate the approximate cubic capacity in tenths of liters, but increases in line with the engine output. The letter stands for the engine type ("i" for gasoline engine , "d" for diesel engine ).

Petrol engines

The X1 sDrive18i has been equipped with a gasoline particle filter since March 2018 , so that the Euro 6d-Temp standard is met.
