The BMW X1 (internal name: E84 ) is a compact SUV from BMW that was built from 2009 to 2015 at the BMW plant in Leipzig . The market launch in Europe took place on October 24th, 2009, after the official trade fair premiere at the IAA 2009 took place. Technically, the X1 comes from the 1 and 3 series .
BMW, together with its Chinese joint venture partner Brilliance , has been producing the X1 for the Chinese market in the newly built plant in Shenyang / Tiexi since 2012 . From autumn 2014, production took place at the new BMW plant in Araquari in Brazil.
Over 800,000 vehicles of the X1 were sold.
Between 2014 and 2016, the X1-based, electrically powered 1E from the Chinese brand Zinoro was sold in China.
Furnishing
- Panorama glass roof (special equipment)
- Bi-xenon double headlights with daytime running lights and adaptive headlights with variable light distribution and cornering lights are optionally available.
- Performance Control (torque distribution on the rear wheels)
- Reversing camera (special equipment)
- The incline of the rear seat backrest can be adjusted by up to 31 degrees. If the backrest is in a vertical position, the luggage compartment volume increases from 420 to 490 liters. If the rear seat backrest, which is divided in a ratio of 40: 20: 40, is completely folded down, the luggage compartment volume increases to 1350 liters.
- Efficient Dynamics measures (auto-start-stop function, brake energy recovery and shift point display)
safety
In addition to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) including Brake Assist and Cornering Brake Control (CBC), there are belt tensioners and belt force limiters as well as an electronic stability program with traction control (called Dynamic Stability Control, DSC or Dynamic Traction Control, DTC). There are also six airbags (driver / front passenger, side airbags and full-length head airbags).
When Euro NCAP - Crash Test 2011, the car received in the overall assessment of five out of five stars. The occupant safety was rated with 31 points (87 percent), the child safety with 42 points (86 percent) and the pedestrian safety with 23 points (64 percent). Compared to the NCAP test carried out in 2009, this time 5 points (71 percent) were awarded in an additional category for the active and integrated safety and assistance systems (Safety Assist).
Child seats can only be securely attached to the back seat on the outside seats. Isofix brackets are also available there. A child seat can only be attached to the front passenger seat if the vehicle is equipped with the front passenger airbag deactivation, which is subject to a surcharge.
Facelift
In July 2012 the X1 was revised. In the course of this facelift, it received extended engine and equipment options, technical optimizations in the area of the drive train, and slight changes in the exterior and interior. Another small facelift took place in spring 2014.

Engines
The models are differentiated according to displacement and engine type . The number (16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 28) in this model does not indicate the approximate displacement in liters, but increases in line with the engine performance and the increasing sales prices of the models. The letter stands for the engine type ("i" for gasoline engine , "d" for diesel engine ).
