BMW F44 is the factory-internal name for the sedan of the BMW 2 series marketed as the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé . The vehicle is based on the BMW F40 of the 1 series .
history
After more than half of the customers of the Mercedes-Benz CLA introduced in 2013 did not previously have a Mercedes-Benz and the first generation vehicle had been sold over 750,000 times worldwide, BMW presented a similar model on October 16, 2019 with the 2 Series Gran Coupé. The model , known as the four-door coupé , had its public premiere at the LA Auto Show in November 2019. The market launch was in March 2020. Since the BMW 1 Series is not sold on the North American market, the 2 Series Gran Coupé will be the new entry-level model there.
In China and Mexico, BMW is offering the F52, a 1-series sedan, which is slightly shorter at 4.46 meters and is built in China. The F44 is produced exclusively in Leipzig .
technology
The sedan is based on the BMW UKL2 platform. Like all vehicles based on this platform, it has front-wheel drive and no six-cylinder engines. The interior largely corresponds to that of the third generation 1. Like all BMW models marketed as Gran Coupé , the F44 also has frameless side windows.
Technical specifications
When the model was launched, there was a choice of two gasoline engines and one diesel engine . All engines offered in Europe meet at least the Euro 6d TEMP emissions standard. In the summer of 2020, a weaker diesel engine will be added to the range of drives.
