Model history

Engines
There is a choice of two petrol engines for the X6 , a six-cylinder in-line engine with 3.0 l stroke 225 kW (306 hp) and a revised 4.4-liter V8 engine with cross-flow cylinder heads . It has direct petrol injection (second generation High Precision Injection) and two turbochargers connected in parallel (twin turbo). They are arranged between the two cylinder banks of the engine (on the hot side). The suction pipes are on the outside.
The diesel engine variants offered have the same cubic capacity of 3.0 l and are available in three power levels: 190 kW, 230 kW and 280 kW.
