The BMW 6 Series (internal designation: F12 - Cabrio , F13 - Coupé , F06 - Four-door Coupé ) from the German automobile manufacturer BMW is the third generation of the 6 Series .
This 6-series is based on the 5-series (F10) model built until 2017 and therefore shares a large part of the technology and equipment options.
history
The convertible officially presented by BMW on November 18, 2010 replaced the E63 / E64 series that had been in production since summer 2003 . It was produced in the Dingolfing plant.
His exterior design was done by Nader Faghihzadeh, the interior by Christian Bauer.
The start of delivery and thus also the dealer presentation of the 6 Series Cabriolet in Germany took place on March 26, 2011. The vehicle was shown to the trade fair audience at the NAIAS 2011 in Detroit.
As the successor to the E63 model , a 6 Series Coupé has been available again since autumn 2011 , which was officially shown at a trade fair for the first time at Auto Shanghai 2011.
In May 2012, a sedan known as the Gran Coupé was introduced, which competes primarily with the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Porsche Panamera . In contrast to the typical coupé, it has four doors and three seats in the rear. According to BMW, however, the vehicle is a 4 + 1 seater. The manufacturer justifies the concept with the fact that the back seat is formed with two individual seats, with a person in the middle at least for a short distance and this is not considered a full seat.
The BMW M6 was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in spring 2012 . Like the BMW M5 , the M6 also has a double-charged 4.4-liter V8 as a drive source, with an output of 412 kW and 680 Nm of torque.
The series was given a facelift in 2015 and 2017 .
In 2018 the BMW 6 Series was replaced by the BMW 8 Series (G15) .

Engine variants Gran Coupé (F06)
The engine variants of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé are largely taken from the Coupé and Cabriolet. The double-charged V8 in the BMW 650i Gran Coupé with a displacement of 4.4 liters is, however, available in a new version: Instead of the previous 300 kW, the new engine now has 330 kW and achieves 650 instead of 600 Nm. At the same time, pollutant emissions and consumption were reduced. The new engine has been available since autumn 2012.
