history
Concept 4
At the International Motor Show in September 2019, the Concept 4 concept vehicle, a two-door coupé, was presented, which was intended to provide an outlook on a successor to the BMW F32 . In particular, the large vertical BMW kidney grille at the front was discussed a lot in the media. According to the manufacturer, it should "give the vehicle its own character and a high degree of exclusivity".
G22
On June 2, 2020, BMW presented the Coupé G22 . The technical basis is provided by the G20 of the BMW 3 Series . The G22 differs from this in particular through a sportier design with form elements of the BMW G15 . The kidney grille familiar from the concept vehicle is also reserved for the 4-series. Deliveries of the coupé produced at BMW's Dingolfing plant are scheduled to begin in October 2020 .
Other variants
According to media reports and Erlkönig photos , a convertible with a fabric roof and a four-door hatchback sedan are also planned again. Various M4 derivatives should also come back on the market.
For the first time, there will also be a battery-electric version based on the hatchback sedan. With the i4 Concept , BMW wanted to show a first preview of this variant at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the auto salon was canceled on February 28, 2020, which is why the premiere took place via livestream over the Internet.
Technical specifications
The drives are also used in the BMW G20, although the 4-series dispenses with the weaker drives and the plug-in hybrid . The M440i and all diesel drives have a 48-volt electrical system . All engines meet the Euro 6d emissions standard .
